Initial takeaway. Combat missions and hauling missions are fine. Mining missions should be reverted to paying more and removing the ore from the player’s inventory. Same with salvaging missions and industry missions.
When it comes to player driven video game economies scarcity is the name of the game. It needs systems to remove items otherwise the market will eventually become saturated and then all crafted items and supplies will be worth nothing.
If I take on an agent mission to make a pyre beam laser then the mission needs to buy it from me for a little more than it’s appraised value but it should be removed from the game. If i get to keep it and put it on the player market, along with all the other potential crafters, then overabudance will push the value down towards 0 making crafting only worth it when I need something.
I’ll try to flesh out this thought more tomorrow–im currently falling asleep.
i strongly agree. have done a few manufacturing missions and now my hangar is stuffed with items i have no need for and no one buys and i can’t even salvage the items back to some materials. so just a waste of space.
so i agree with Shep, salvage and manufacturing missions should take away the items and in return add the value of the item on top of the reward.
just think about it, there is someone who gives you a contract to build something and dont want the result: “Hey, can you build a Weapon for me? I give you 2000 $ AND you can keep the weapon!”
Sounds strange.
And before you ask, no, i don’t think this would have a disruptive effect on the market and trading. Player will craft items and they will put them on the market for trading.
But where is the incentive then for players to insert their stuff in the market if they can just quickly convert their materials into cash via these missions? My only answer to this would be to have the missions pay way below what the items would actually be worth considering the materials required and respective time invested.
And if I do that there WILL be a post that says “Why do the missions pay fuck all?”
One idea that just came to my mind and I can try: The missions take the item and pay the player for it and then put it on the market themselves. So basically its loaned by the agency or so.
